Candelaria Mural
Located in the north stairwell of Candelaria Hall on the University of Northern Colorado campus, the colorful and unique mural depicts the life of the building’s namesake, Dr. Martin Candelaria. Candelaria was the first Hispanic professor at the Colorado Teacher’s College (now Â鶹´«Ã½) and founded the Foreign Language Department in 1948.
The Candelaria mural was painted by artist Leo Tanguma and Â鶹´«Ã½ art students with the help of Martin Candelaria’s wife, Fay.
