Supplemental Instruction
Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a non-remedial support program that targets large, academically challenging, general education classes. Open to all students enrolled in the course, SI provides assistance through regularly scheduled study sessions that begin during the second or third week of the semester. Our SI leaders are upper-level Â鶹´«Ã½ students who hold three 1-to-2 hour sessions each week to review course content, facilitate student-centered learning activities, and foster independent learning strategies. National research data show that SI students earn higher exam and course grades and withdraw less often than non-SI participants. Also, national data demonstrate higher re-enrollment and graduation rates for SI participants.
How do I receive SI?
SI Leaders introduce themselves during the first class and arranges study session days/times for the semester – with input from students. Sessions times will announce to the class by the second week. Whether you are looking for continuous or occasional help, the SI sessions are designed to meet your needs.

Which classes offer SI support?
Approximately fifteen large, Liberal Arts Core classes in a variety of academic disciplines are supported by SI each term (excluding summer). However, since SI cooperates with specific faculty whose teaching assignments vary, the specific courses supported by SI each semester may change.
