Brown Hall

The Mesa Neighborhood

Brown Hall is only a short bike ride or walk to Central Campus academic buildings and the Tobey-Kendel Dining Hall.

Built in 1930 and boasting beautifully updated suites with historic charm, Brown Hall reflects an English-Tudor style architecture with individual floor plan layouts in suites. Brown Hall and many of the residence halls in The Mesa Neighborhood are part of the , a registered state historic district.

    • Bed and Mattresses

      Each room has an adjustable height twin (regular) size bed for each resident. The bed has a dual firmness twin (regular) mattress (firm or extra firm, depending on which side is up). The beds are approximately 80.5" long by 41" wide by 37" high.

      Some rooms in Brown Hall may have the beds bunked upon move-in to help students maximize the space. Residents can choose to bunk or un-bunk their bed.

      The bed is resident adjustable with three (3) settings. Beds are generally set to the middle height to accommodate both storage under the bed and ease of use

    • Desk and Chair

      Each room has a desk and a two-position desk chair for each resident. The desks are approximately 42" wide by 24" deep and 30" high.

    • Clothes Storage

      Each room has a wardrobe affixed to the wall for each resident. The wardrobes are approximately 42" wide by 24" deep and 84" high. The wardrobes have four (4) large drawers on the lower section, two divided areas to hang clothes in the middle section with the two (2) smaller drawers, and the upper section has two open storage areas.

      Some rooms may also have a shared dresser.

      Single Room Dressers

      The dressers in double rooms are approximately 36" wide by 24" deep by 50.5" high and have four (4) small drawers and four (4) large drawers.

      The dressers in single rooms are approximately 24" wide by 24" deep by 50.5" high in single rooms and have four (4) small drawers and four (4) large drawers.

    • Other Storage

      The wardrobes in each room should allow for storage of clothing as well as other items such as boxes, books, athletic gear, etc. Some suites have shared closet and other storage spaces.

    • Flooring

      Some rooms in Brown Hall are carpeted; some rooms have hardwood floors. Bathroom areas are tiled.

    • Windows/Window Coverings

      Most rooms in Brown Hall have either double-hung windows or casement windows that can be opened by the residents. Most windows will have fire-retardant drapery to help block out the light as needed.

    • Sink/Vanity

      Rooms in Brown Hall have a full bathroom area.

    • Appliances

      Rooms in Brown Hall do not come with a refrigerator or microwave. Residents should coordinate bringing these appliances with their roommate(s). Please consider renting a combined microwave-refrigerator unit through the Residence Hall Association
