  • What if I need to get a video in class captioned for a student?

  •  How could one of my students get accommodations?

    If students inquire about getting accommodations, please refer them to our website or have them stop into the office. To learn more about the accommodation process, please look at our Getting Started Page.

  • I’ve received an accommodation letter stating that a student is eligible for note-taking services. What are my responsibilities with coordinating this accommodation? 

    In order to assist with university ADA compliance, it is the professor’s responsibility to request peer note-takers for their courses after receiving a student’s accommodation letter with Note-taking Services listed in their eligibilities. The following script is provided on the accommodation letter to assist you in requesting a peer note-taker. Please read this statement, out loud, to your class:

    "This class requires a student to take notes each class period. The notetaker selected will receive either Â鶹´«Ã½ Apparel, a certificate for 45 service hours, $45 in dining dollars to be used on campus, or a $100 stipend. There are specific requirements for this reward, please talk to the DRC if you are interested. All rewards will be provided at the end of the semester upon successful completion of their notetaking requirementsNotetakers can sign up online through the DRC Online Platform by going to the Note-taking Support section on DRC's website."

    It is also recommended that you post or email it to students on Canvas.   • What is the DRC's policy on recording lectures?

    Students recording lectures as a disability accommodation agree to use recordings for personal study only. Recorded lectures may not be shared with anyone else, or distributed online.

    Instructors may feel that it is inappropriate to record certain class discussions. Students are approved to record lectures, but not necessarily discussions in which other students may reveal personal information or self-disclosure. If necessary, students or instructors may ask DRC to help make this distinction.

  • How do I fill out exam instructions?

    Instructors will receive an email with a link to fill out instructions for each exam scheduled at DRC individually. Instructors may also log in to the and see all of the scheduled exams for their courses and may input exam instructions here. Inputting exam instructions is crucial for the DRC to successfully facilitate exams, so please do so for each exam. If you have any questions please contact DRC@unco.edu.

  • How do I access a completed exam file?

    To access your exam, please login to your Once logged in using your Â鶹´«Ã½ credentials, click on the "Alternative Testing" link to the left. Then click on "Completed Exam Files" in the upper right. Navigate downward and click "View" on the completed exam/test/quiz. Every time you click on "View" it will generate a new code. For security, you will be sent a six digit verification code in an email. Enter that code into the field and hit enter/return, or the "Verify Code" button to access and download the completed exam/test/quiz. Each step is in place to protext exam integrity.
