Teaching Evaluation Webinars
Effective teaching evaluation includes multiple sources of data such as self-reflection, peer feedback, and student feedback. These webinars discuss demonstrating evidence of effective teaching, reflective practice, and peer observation.
Going Beyond Student Evaluations: Demonstrating Evidence of Student Learning
- Dr. Lyda McCartin
- January 27, 10:00-11:00 am
While student evaluations of teaching have served as the primary source of data for teaching effectiveness, demonstrating teaching effectiveness can go far beyond end-of-semester evaluations. But what data can show teaching effectiveness and student learning? How do we effectively communicate our pedagogical efforts and successes to others? This webinar will discuss research on traditional teaching evaluations and consider alternative ways to provide evidence of your teaching and student learning.
Reflective and Reflexive Teaching Practice
- Dr. Molly Jameson
- February 24, 10:00-11:00 am
In this webinar Dr. Molly Jameson will discuss the importance of being both a reflective and a reflexive practitioner in order to be an effective teacher. Dr. Jameson will demonstrate reflective and reflexive practice using examples from her own classroom. She will share her journey from novice to expert teacher including challenges and successes along the way. Participants will engage in self-reflection of their teaching since the start of spring semester and engage in discussion with peers about incorporating reflection into their work.
Peer Observation of Teaching
- Professor Rachel Dineen and Dr. Lyda McCartin
- March 31, 10:00-11:00 am
Through observation of courses and review of course material, peers can provide valuable insight about our teaching practice. In this webinar two Â鶹´«Ã½ faculty will share their experiences with peer observation at the individual, department, and college level. Participants will engage in small and large group discussions to determine how to incorporate peer observation into their work.
