Marketing Strategy

The Marketing team strives to advance the university’s overall mission through the alignment of marketing and communications strategy and resources across academic and campus departments and administrative divisions. We want to ensure that all marketing projects we take on are aligned with 鶹ý’s goals and priorities of 鶹ý as outlined in its 2023 strategic plan, Rowing, Not Drifting.  Once we determine this, the Marketing Communications team is happy to help create a strategy to accomplish your objectives.

For example, if your college is launching a new degree program, then you would select “marketing strategy” on the request form since it is a project that requires strategy, planning and rollout across multiple platforms and channels, such as web, social, email, print collateral and more.

Content Development

Content development is the essential foundation of any marketing project. Using understandable language, following AP style guidelines and having a clear call to action, are critical. The Marketing and Communications Department can assist in creating, editing and reviewing content for any type of project, from landing pages to emails, and from social posts to digital ads.

Email Messaging

The University uses email as the primary means for communicating essential information to students. Mass email messages are a useful and convenient way of informing the 鶹ý campus community. Mass email distribution requests must be submitted to central marketing prior to dissemination through the Slate CRM tool. Central coordination enables 鶹ý to be thoughtful regarding the time and volume of communication received by students.

Central Marketing offers a variety of guidelines and 1:1 training to ensure success.

Slate/Email Resources

Mass email messages are intended for one of the following reasons:

  • The message is essential to the proper execution of daily business.
  • It notifies the community of noteworthy events or changes in governance, policy and practice.
  • It alerts the community to situations around health and safety (examples include crime alerts, snow closings and flu vaccinations).
  • It keeps segments of students informed of information that is critical to their performance and success, such as communications about registration, financial assistance, commencement and more.
