Supportive Measures & Resources

OIEC offers a variety non-disciplinary, non-punitive and individualized supportive measures to individuals who have experienced behavior prohibited under applicable policies (complainant), and those accused of prohibited conduct (respondent).  Supportive measures are made available without fee or charge after filing of a Formal Complaint or where no Formal Complaint has been filed. We coordinate with offices across campus to provide resources to help individuals remain on campus as students and/or employees. OIEC works to provide measures that balance the various needs of all involved parties Supportive measures are designed to restore or preserve  equal  access  to a University Education Program or Activity without unreasonably burdening the other party, including measures designed to protect the safety of all parties or the University’s educational environment, or to deter Sexual Harassment.

This can include:

  • Assistance with accessing counseling or medical services
  • Modifications to work or class schedules, including extensions of deadlines
  • Assistance with university administrative processes (financial aid, registration, etc.)
  • Assistance with dropping classes or withdrawing from school
  • Changes in campus housing locations
  • Mutual restrictions of contact between the involved parties
  • Modifications to campus activities
  • Campus escort services
  • Increased security and monitoring of certain areas of campus
  • Excluding individuals from part or all of campus
  • Putting an employee on an administrative leave of absence
  • Emergency removal of a student from campus

Supportive measures will be maintained as confidential by the University to the extent that maintaining such confidentiality would not impair the ability of the University to provide such measures.

OIEC provides assistance and information about resolution options through OIEC and/or other offices on or off campus, and can make referrals when a situation falls outside of OIEC’s jurisdiction.
