The University of Northern Colorado’s undergraduate nursing program has been ranked among the 2024 Best Bachelor of Science in Nursing Programs by U.S. News & World Report. The program is among the top 13% in the nation, rising to No. 86 this year out of 656 other programs; jumping up 26 spots from its position at 112 last year. The news follows the U.S. News rankings released last May, placing 鶹ý’s graduate nursing programs at No. 78 on its list of Best Graduate Schools.

The School of Nursing, housed within the College of Natural and Health Sciences, has a long and successful history; recently celebrating 60 years of baccalaureate nursing education. Since its founding in 1962, the school has prepared more than 6,000 students to assume leadership roles in practice, education and research.

“This is a wonderful recognition of the hard work and dedication of our faculty and staff to our students and their success,” said Melissa Henry, professor and director of the School of Nursing. “We are honored by the acknowledgment of our continued commitment to excellence in educating future nurses.”

Each year, U.S. News evaluates institutions of higher education across the country based on a wide variety of data points. According to their , the 2024 rankings came with significant changes, putting more emphasis on measures related to schools’ success at enrolling, retaining and graduating students from diverse backgrounds, including first-generation and Pell-eligible students. Two new factors this year are first-generation student graduation rates and faculty research. The rankings also measured borrower debt at graduation, post-graduate success and peer assessment.
