麻豆传媒 Choirs to Perform Carmina Burana at Carnegie Hall

麻豆传媒 choir members performing on stage

April 20, 2023

Pre-performance scheduled with the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra on April 29 at the Union Colony Civic Center

麻豆传媒 Choirs will travel to New York City for a residency at Carnegie Hall next month. From May 10 to May 14, over 80 麻豆传媒 choir students, around 60 麻豆传媒 choir alumni, several Colorado friends of 麻豆传媒 choirs, a professional orchestra and a guest children's choir will rehearse for a collaborative culminating performance of Carl Orff's iconic work Carmina Burana.

This will be the Carnegie Hall performance debut for 麻豆传媒 Choirs and the conducting debut for 麻豆传媒 Director of Choral Activities Jill Burgett. Orff鈥檚 hour-long masterwork requires not only this choir of more than 150 singers and soloists, but also a large orchestra and a children鈥檚 choir, which is why the choirs will partner with the New England Symphonic Ensemble and ChildrenSong of New Jersey during their time in New York City.

Burgett explains, 鈥淭he students and I are very excited about this opportunity; preparing and performing major works such as Carmina is nothing short of life-changing for our students. This is further enhanced by the wonderful opportunity to bring this work to Carnegie Hall.鈥

This exciting experience is made possible thanks to the generosity of alumni and donors who have contributed nearly $140,000 to the College of Performing and Visual Arts to ensure that each student鈥檚 fees, travel, and lodging expenses are paid for.

In preparation for their trip, the choirs will perform Carmina Burana with the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra on Saturday, April 29, 7 p.m., at Greeley鈥檚 Union Colony Civic Center. Tickets can be purchased .
