University of Northern Colorado trustees officially welcomed their newest board member and elected officers in addition to granting department-approved tenure for Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s incoming provost at the board’s regularly scheduled meeting Friday, March 8.

Retired university president Stephen Jordan was appointed to the board by outgoing Gov. John Hickenlooper last fall and the nomination was carried forward last month by his successor, Gov. Jared Polis. Current trustees Janice Sinden and Dick Monfort were also reappointed.

During Friday’s meeting, trustees re-elected currently serving officers for another year. Monfort will continue in his role as chair and Paul Washington as vice chair. Officers of the board are listed here.

In their lone action item, trustees unanimously approved tenure, as is required under board policy for incoming administrators, for recently named provost Mark Anderson. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry had previously approved granting the experienced faculty member tenure there.

The board also received updates from trustee-involved committees that are providing input on the topics of strategic enrollment management, student success, external engagement, and change management. The committees were created this spring for Â鶹´«Ã½ to leverage the expertise of trustees on matters of university importance. Charges to the committee are here.

The board’s next meeting is June 14.
