Sometimes life happens. Unexpected medical bills arise, jobs are lost, housing plans fall apart, food is scarce, cars break down or computers need repair. Â鶹´«Ã½ seeks to support all students on their educational journeys, even in the midst of financial instability. Thanks to the generosity of donors, it’s now easier than ever for students (both undergraduate and graduate) to apply for special funds to apply toward a financial emergency.
The Student Emergency Support Fund exists to provide financial support to Â鶹´«Ã½ students (undergraduate and graduate) who are experiencing unanticipated and/or catastrophic life events that may otherwise cause the student to stop or pause progress toward their educational goals.
Students may apply for funds to assist with a broad range of emergencies relating to medical, dental or mental health expenses; housing; food; utilities; transportation; access to course materials; coping with a disaster; or other issues.
Students who wish to learn more about this program, including eligibility criteria and how to apply, should visit the Student Outreach and Support (SOS) webpage.
The maximum award amount for a student in an academic year from this fund is generally $750. Other forms of support may be available to students. Â鶹´«Ã½ encourages all students to apply for financial aid. For more information on financial aid opportunities, please consult with Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s Office of Financial Aid.
If you have questions about this program, or if you are a student and would like to meet with a case manager about your individual circumstances, please e-mail sos@unco.edu.
Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s Emergency Support Fund is made possible by donations from both individual donors (including many Â鶹´«Ã½ faculty and staff) and corporate donors (including significant funding from Sodexo, which operates Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s Dining Services).
