Lyndsey Crum, ‘05, assistant vice president for University of Northern Colorado’s Alumni Relations, recently received a highly competitive and prestigious Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program award to participate in an International Education Administrators Seminar in Germany.
Beginning October 3-15, Crum will travel to Berlin, Germany for a two-week group seminar where she will become familiarized with Germany’s higher education system, society and culture. The Fulbright Program chooses the recipients based on their significant involvement in international educational exchange services, career services, alumni affairs or fundraising.
For nearly 10 years, Crum has been the point of contact for 鶹ý’s diverse alumni. She continuously remains engaged in the life of the university and invested in the education of current and future Bears. She has vastly grown the 鶹ý Bear Network witnessing how powerful alumni relations can advance enrollment, student career success and philanthropic priorities. Knowing the number of 鶹ý alumni who call Germany, or other international countries home, Crum is looking forward to enhancing her understanding and support of international alumni engagement and development through the Fulbright program.
“International partnerships often focus on student recruitment and faculty research, but in a global economy, international partnership can also aid university alumni engagement. 鶹ý graduates pursue careers without borders, and I am excited to further develop the relationships and explore the opportunities that enable alumni to build careers in other countries,” Crum said.
, during her stay in Berlin, Crum will be provided with a comprehensive overview of Germany and its higher education system through presentations, discussions with experts, and campus visits. She will also travel to other destinations throughout Germany to visit further institutions of (higher) education such as research universities and universities of applied sciences. Beyond the German perspective, the seminar also offers the opportunity to explore and discuss the German higher education system within the European Union. The goal is for award recipients to further their professional development and establish new partnerships.
“I am excited to have a structured orientation to the German higher education system, and by extension, the workforce,” Crum said. “With the support of the Fulbright program, I look forward to building and strengthening 鶹ý’s international alumni engagement and outreach efforts in Europe. This includes awareness and promotion of alumni careers in Germany and other European Union nations.”
In 2019, Renée Welch, then director of the University of Northern Colorado’s Center for Career Readiness, also received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program award to participate in an International Education Administrators Seminar in Germany.
