Black is Punk is a collaborative art movement organized by Â鶹´«Ã½ students through the Marcus Garvey Cultural Center with the goal of raising awareness about blackness on campus, particularly in creative spaces. The students’ projects include an art exhibit, concerts, poetry readings, movie nights and roller-skating evenings. One student described Black is Punk as a movement that "flips stigmas of Black folks on their heads by displaying diversity in the Black community through a variety of creative works.†

In the video above, Â鶹´«Ã½ students Nikaya Lawson, founder of Black is Punk, and Ann Adele Blassingame, co-curator of the exhibit, discuss the relevance of this movement and how it is open to everyone.

For those who want to be part of this movement, they can do it by to their fundraising campaign through Monday, Nov. 28, 2022. All profits will go to the Marcus Garvey Cultural Center to fund similar events in the future.
