The Affordable and Open Educational Resources (AOER) Committee is pleased to announce five new recipients of this year’s Open Educational Resources (OER) Course Conversion Grants. This competitive grant program, funded by the Colorado Department of Higher Education, aids faculty and instructors in transitioning classes from traditional course materials to OER.
Five faculty members have been selected, joining the ten awardees from the Fall semester. They are now part of a cohort of 79 individuals who have converted 74 courses to OER since 2018.
The recipients are:
- Stacy Bailey, Ph.D., English: EED 342 Methods and Materials for Teaching Language and Composition in the Elementary School.
- Mariana Lazarova, Ph.D., Physics & Astronomy: AST 101 Stars and Galaxies.
- Matthew Richard Semak, Ph.D., Charles Kuehn, Ph.D., and Cynthia Galovich, Ph.D., Physics & Astronomy: AST 100 The Sky and Planets.
OER are free teaching, learning, and research materials that reduce financial barriers to education by eliminating textbook costs. They also help advance DEI initiatives, support student success, and offer new opportunities for innovative teaching practices.
