Â鶹´«Ã½ sent a delegation of students to the Intermountain Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls’ (IACURH)Regional Leadership Conference at the Arizona State University Downtown Phoenix campus. This included Ann-Adele Blassingame as RHA president, Jay Sanford as NRHH president/coordinator and Syd Peirce as NACURH communications coordinator. Â鶹´«Ã½ sent the following individuals as delegates: Kit Frey, Molly Cheer, Samantha Zavala, Grace Retterer, Alex Godfrey, Lillyanna Chapa, and Bri Mendoza. Â鶹´«Ã½'s Coordinator for Curriculum, Assessment and Communications, Katelyn Spooner, came as the delegation advisor. Â鶹´«Ã½ participated in boardroom spaces, educational sessions, PEAK programming and attended social events
Here are some of the accomplishments:
- Ann-Adele Blassingame prepared two PEAK sessions- one about connecting RHA/NRHH with campus life and one about using spirit for engagement. During the boardroom, Blassingame served as parliamentarian to ensure each institution and the chairperson were following the rules of parliamentary procedure.
- Sam Zavala and Grace Retterer prepared an educational session called "Building Recruitment and Retention Through Creative Outlets," as first-time delegates.
- Syd Pierce and Molly Cheer wrote and defended an award bid nominating Grace for student executive member of the year.
- Students put a lot of work into getting as many "spirit points" as possible, and it paid off. Â鶹´«Ã½ was awarded the most spirited delegation out of the 20 schools in attendance.
- Â鶹´«Ã½'s Executive Director of Housing & Auxiliary Services, Jed Cummins, was recognized as IACURH's professional staff member of the Month for May.
- Michael Kirkpatrick, a Â鶹´«Ã½ student serving on IACURH's board of directors, awarded a Golden Summit pin to Alex Godfrey.
Each delegate went out of their way to make connections with people from other institutions, whether through pin-trading or boardroom buddy gifts. They had fun reconnecting with friends made at previous conferences, learned a lot about other schools and brought home new goals and ideas for themselves and Â鶹´«Ã½.
