    Faculty and Staff Equity Advocates Call for Applications

    Applications due to the provost's office on or before April 30, 2025

    The purpose of this Equity Advocates Program is to create a community of faculty and staff members who delve into the research and help find and implement solutions in areas identified by the most recent campus climate survey as areas in which we should improve. 

    The opportunities identified as a result of analyzing the climate survey, together with the cabinet member responsible for the areas, are: 

    1. Sense of belonging - identified opportunity was mental health support for students (VPSA).

    2. Relationships within and between groups (CAO and CFO) .

    3. Working and learning environment:
      1. identified opportunity was to examine compensation, benefits, and work schedules (CAO and CFO) .
      2. identified opportunity was to incorporate student-centered pedagogy (CAO) .
      3. added area of opportunity is support for international faculty and staff members (CAO and CFO).

    4. Culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion – identified opportunity was to cultivate stronger connections for students who identify in the Black Diaspora (VPSA)  .

    Timeline: As an advocate you would be appointed for a two-year term with the possibility of renewal.  The program would begin August 2025. 

    Responsibilities: As an advocate you would begin working on your project in August 2025, and you would undertake the following: 

    • Review the climate survey and other available data to learn more about your identified opportunity. 
    • Research best/promising practices in the area of your identified opportunity. 
    • Advise the cabinet member(s) responsible for the area in which you are working on any changes in institutional practices/policies in order to make progress in your identified area of opportunity.
    • Participate in the implementation of any adopted changes. 
    • Provide resources (research, data etc.) and/or professional development to members the Â鶹´«Ã½ community. 
    • Complete an activity/impact report twice each year. 

    Compensation: As an advocate you would receive one course of reassigned time per semester, for two years (or the equivalent for staff members) to undertake the responsibilities of the program.  In addition, you would receive a $500 per year budget for supplies, refreshments etc.  

    The academic or administrative unit will receive support commensurate with the FTE of your appointment, reassigned time from teaching; service; or research, scholarship, and creative works, if a faculty member, or assigned duties, if a staff member. 

    Qualifications:  

    • Experience working in or knowledge of in the area of identified opportunity for which you apply.
    • Demonstrated ability to research, compile, analyze, and interpret information and/or data, including the ability to communicate information through presentations and reports.

    Selection: To apply please submit: 

    • A statement of detailing why you are interested in being an advocate and the identified opportunity in which you are interested, what you will bring to the program, and what you hope to gain from the program. 

    • A current CV.

    • The recommendation of your supervisor which includes their assessment of your abilities and experience as related to being an equity advocate, an assessment of the impact if any on your career, confirmation of the availability of reassigned time (faculty members) /assigned time (staff members).

    These materials should be submitted by email to provost.office@unco.edu, on or before April 30, 2025. Advocates will be selected by members of the cabinet who may consult with others in their areas.
