Cozy nooks under circular windows and other social spaces offer the 375 ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ Bears living in North Hall plenty of connection opportunities. North Hall is located across from Campus Commons and is only a short bike ride or walk to West Campus academic buildings and the Holmes Dining Hall.

North Hall is home to many Residential Learning Communities including:

North Hall is the newest hall, built in 2009, and known as the "sister” of South Hall. With spacious suites and a state-of-the-art living experience, North Hall is near the  and . The proximity of the Gear Shop, in Harrison Hall, provides convenient access to equipment check out for a Bear’s next Outdoor Pursuits adventure.

    • Bed and Mattresses

      Each room has an adjustable height twin (regular) size bed for each resident. The bed has a dual firmness twin (regular) mattress (firm or extra firm, depending on which side is up). The beds are approximately 80.5" long by 41" wide by 37" high.

      Some rooms in North Hall may have the beds bunked upon move-in to help students maximize the space. Residents can choose to bunk or un-bunk their bed.

      The bed is resident adjustable with three (3) settings. Beds are generally set to the middle height to accommodate both storage under the bed and ease of use

    • Desk and Chair

      Each room has a desk and a two-position desk chair for each resident. The desks are approximately 48" wide by 24" deep and 30" high.

    • Clothes Storage

      Each room has a closet for each resident. Closet sizes vary by room. Each resident has an under-bed dresser that has 4 drawers and is 46" wide by 22" deep by 20" high. 

    • Other Storage

      The closets in each room should allow for storage of clothing, as well as other items such as boxes, books, athletic gear, etc. There is also limited shared storage in the bathroom. Each room has a bookcase.

    • Flooring

      Rooms in North Hall are carpeted. Bathroom areas are tile/vinyl.

    • Windows/Window Coverings

      Most rooms in North Hall have single-hung windows that can be opened by residents. Most windows will have fire-retardant drapery to help block out the light as needed.

    • Sink/Vanity

      Rooms in North Hall have a full bathroom area.

    • Appliances

      Rooms in North Hall do not come with a refrigerator or microwave. Residents should coordinate bringing these appliances with their roommate(s). Our What To Bring and Housing & Residential Education Handbook detail size and power limitations for microwaves and refrigerators. Please consider renting a combined microwave-refrigerator unit through the Residence Hall Association

Residential Learning Communities

Education - 1st Floor South (Low)

North Hall is home to the Education Residential Learning Community, where students studying in the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences or any student majoring in a subject seeking a teacher certification. Education RLC residents can engage with:

  • School of Teacher Education faculty and staff
  • Other residents who also have an interest in teaching
  • Fun social events with other members of the community

Cumbres (Future CLD Teachers) - 1st Floor West (High)

North Hall is home to the Cumbres Residential Learning Community. Cumbres is a living and learning program for ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ Bears who are planning to teach in K-12 schools and are working toward an English as a Second Language (ESL) or Bilingual/Bicultural endorsement. Cumbres RLC residents can engage with:

  • Support and guidance through your first year on campus and help you adjust to college life as well as meet the requirements of the program
  • Connect with like-minded students who are in Cumbres and also want to be teachers.
  • Shared cohort classes, study times, and events
  • Access to group study spaces

Nursing Exploring - 2nd Floor West (High)

North Hall is home to the Pre-Nursing Residential Learning Community. Pre-Nursing majors can study together and find connection through your shared classes and experience at ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½. Residents in the Nursing Exploring RLC can engage with:

  • Opportunities to connect and make friends with peers interested in nursing or related fields
  • Forming study groups and attend workshops and network with upper-division Nursing student
  • Access to group study spaces with other students interested in Nursing

Biology - 2nd Floor South (Low)

North Hall is home to the Biology Residential Learning Community. The Biology community is for students majoring in Biological Sciences at ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ and residents can engage with:

  • Study groups and in-hall academic advising
  • Participate in events and activities hosted by the Biology program

Outdoor Pursuits - 3rd Floor West (High)

North Hall is home to the Outdoor Pursuits Residential Learning Community, which brings together students who have a passion for the outdoors and give them an opportunity to explore new adventures together. Outdoor Pursuits RLC Residents can:

  • Get priority access to opportunities to get off campus and into nature
  • Check out ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½β€™s gear shop
  • Find leadership experiences through the ropes course, OP trips, and workshops

Go On and Learn (GOAL) - 3rd Floor South (Low)

North Hall is home to the Go On and Learn (GOAL) Residential Learning Community. The RLC is in partnership with the GOAL program, an inclusive higher education program for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities to attend college.

Monfort College of Business - 4th Floor South (Low)                                

North Hall is home to the Monfort College of Business Residential Learning Community, which brings together Business students and is a space where students can:

  • Academic and professional seminars and workshops
  • Peer academic support
  • Leadership opportunities and opportunities to develop connections with fellow business majors

Mindful Living - 4th Floor West (High)

North Hall is home to the Mindful Living Residential Learning Community, where students with an interest in  mindful practice can find community with others sharing a similar mindset. Mindful Living RLC residents can:

  • Collaborate with others who share an interest in mindful practice
  • Interact with faculty and staff in the Center for Applied Contemplatives Studies
  • Access mediation space with the Mindful Affinity Fellowship in North Hall

First Year Queer Living Community - 5th Floor South (Low)

North Hall is home to the Queer Living Community, a space where students who identify across the gender, sexual, and romantic identity spectrums are welcome to call this community home. Queer Living RLC residents can:

  • Engage in open dialogue about identity
  • Connect with staff in the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center
  • Participate in education, advocacy, and support programs and events

Criminology and Criminal Justice - 5th Floor West (High)

North Hall is home to our Criminology and Criminal Justice Residential Learning Community, where Criminology & Criminal Justice majors and minors can find:

  • Networking opportunity with peers and academic faculty
  • Programming and social events specifically targeting Criminal Justice topics

Honors, Scholars, and Leaders - 6th Floor

North Hall is home to one of the Honors, Scholars, and Leaders Residential Learning Community, a community of self-driven, creative, problem solvers who pursue inquiry-based learning. Honors RLC students can engage with:

  • Honors Program Faculty and Staff
  • A community of intellectually challenging peers
  • Student Honors Council Leadership and Events
  • Co-Enroll in HON100
